The US banned gems imported from Myanmar in 2003 as part of wide economic sanctions against the military government. But a legal loophole still allows them to enter the country if they are first cut and polished elsewhere. Nearly 90 percent of the world’s rubies are mined in Myanmar, and many of the good quality rubies in the US originate from Myanmar.

Look what I found on my travels tonight, a Ruby and Diamond Dragonfly Pendant. I think this is really pretty but my preference when it comes to rubies is blood red, I just love them dark, deep and red, but this will make a great gift for any ruby, diamond or dragonfly lover in general. If you’ve ever seen a Dragonfly in person, you’ll know how beautiful they are. Last Summer while on vacation we saw one in a field, it had it’s wings caught in a spider web, we carefully removed the web from it’s tattered wings, the web and the wings were so sticky, the dragonfly stayed on our hands for a bit then flew away, that are just so magical looking… well to me anyway.

There’s nothing I love more than mythical jewelry, I love dragons, this one is gorgeous! I was actually looking at the nose rings at bodycandy.com, but I’ve never been able to get the one they put in my nose to pierce it, out, anyone know how to remove it? It hurts REALLY bad when I try to remove it but I so badly want to so I can put something with a smaller back in.
